Defect Inspection

A technical analysis of significant defects revealed and advice on appropriate further actions, together with estimated costs.  Identification of less significant defects, general disrepair and shortcomings in the physical condition, maintenance and design of the building.

The inspection is limited to a specific problem.  For example cracking or damp.  These inspections are often required where a Mortgage Valuation report details a potential problem which requires further comment from a Chartered Building Surveyor.

Costs associated with specific defects are very much dependant upon the actual defect. Inspections which we are often requested to comment upon are:

  • Damp
  • Structural movement / subsidence / settlement
  • Wall tie corrosion
  • Sulphate attack to floors
  • Drain testing
